Well now that TF2 has come and gone, and my unhealthy obsession with that film has started to subside,(Untill the next one.) my anticipation can move to other films on the horizon. These are just some that have caught my attention.

Sherlock Holmes:

Robert Downey Jr stars in an unconventional take on the classic detective. This film just looks like it'll be a fun watch.

9:

I mentioned this in a previous journal, it's a film produced by Tim Burton and writen and directed by Shane Acker. I have always liked dark and crazy gothic character designs like this, so that's mainly what drew my attention to this trailer.
I don't really expect this film to do very well, since the whole gothic art style has pretty much been ruined by the "emo" punk trend of today, and the subsequent mass hatred for said subculture. But I still think it looks like it could be a neat little film. Probably one to wait for on DVD.

Ponyo:

Hayao Miyazaki films have always been enjoyable and enchanting to watch. So that's reason enough alone to want to see this.
Ponyo definitely looks to be more on the kiddy side of films, so it may not appeal to everyone, but it still looks interesting.

District 9:

This movie looks like it could go either too ways, it could be a really unique and different take on a tired film genre, or go the way of I am Legend, and become boring and pointless.
What really grabed me about this trailer was the gritty realism of the effects. The art style reminded me very much of the PC game Half life. In fact the premises of the film feels like something that would take place in the world of Half life.
The movie is actually a loose adaptation of a short film done by the director, Neill Blomkamp, called Alive in Joburg: [link]
I could see the indie-film crowd being somewhat disgusted that the director went a more action movie approach with the theatrical version, opposed to the original which is much more of an art film.
